I composed this solo piano piece for a class back when I was in university. The piece is inspired by a documentary where someone sneaked into the Bohemian Grove. The preface and subtitle in the score have been modified compared to the score that was submitted to the professor. The Program Note reads as follows:
Moloch’s Forest is a piece about exploring the Bohemian Grove, which is dedicated to Moloch, a
Canaanite false god. The Canaanites would sacrifice children in his name. An explorer decides to visit
the grove and eventually escapes but not after witnessing a horrific, evil ritual performed in
front of a statue of Moloch.
